What we do in Beuda
Beuda is nature. The best way to discover it is by walking along the endless paths that run through the whole territory. Some routes are affordable for children, others need to be a little prepared to walk and can also be done by car.
If your children like to walk in the woods you can follow the path that leaves Lligordà, passes by the tiny church of Santa Maria de Palera and reaches Sant Sepulcre de Palera. Here you can stop for a snack or even lunch, as there is a restaurant. To finish the route you can return directly to Lligordà.
With a little more effort you can climb the Castellot, an old watchtower of which some walls and towers are preserved. The trail is steep but very beautiful and well worth the climb for the views over the village. This hill also has several open access climbing routes, but you must bring your own equipment.
We could say that the mountain of the "Mare de Déu del Mont" is the most emblematic of our area, much loved by Garrotxins and Empordà. Its skirt is sewn with paths that take you to countless corners. Here you can discover the old Monastery of Sant Llorenç de Sous or the Torre de Falgars, enjoying a crowded holm oak grove or a majestic beech forest, depending on the route you choose. It can also be reached by bike or car. If you reach the top, at 1,115 meters, a bar-restaurant awaits you, whose terrace enjoys one of the most spectacular views in Catalonia!
What we do in La Garrotxa
We are located just 3 km from Besalú. This well-known medieval village can be visited freely, getting lost in the alleys of the ancient Jewish quarter where activity boils, and guided tours are also offered so you can enter various spaces. Usually in the summer there are theatrical visits that allow you to get to know the town’s past in a very pleasant way, but you have to be foresighted as it requires prior reservation and is a very popular activity.
If you are excited to visit La Fageda d’En Jordà you will find several signposted itineraries for walking and you can also hire a carriage ride. Very interesting for children and adults the visit to the Cooperativa La Fageda (prior reservation required).
Also in the Volcanic Zone of La Garrotxa you can make many excursions or one visit the Bosc de Tosca with "donkeys and donkeys" of Les Preses.
An original and spectacular way to see La Garrotxa is from a bird’s eye view, with the Vol de Coloms hot air balloons.
What we do with kids
If you come with children you can make small excursions through our town or Besalú, walk through the Fageda d’en Jordà on foot or by car and visit one of the many volcanoes. Also take a walk on the back of Catalan donkeys through the Bosc de Pedra Tosca.
We are close to the Pla de l'Estany region where you can visit the prehistoric caves of Serinyà -very used to receive the little ones-, see the water birds as you walk around the lake, get to Les Estunes or visit the Neolithic Park of La Draga, one of the most important in Europe.
You can also lean towards the Empordà. You can visit the Butterfly Park in Empuriabrava, where in addition to seeing butterflies you can interact with birds and other animals. Another interesting place is the Albera Turtle Breeding Center, located in Garriguella, where they work to recover the Mediterranean turtle. A curious place is the Castle of Recasens, in La Jonquera; it has been uninhabited for years and you can walk around freely, a real adventure for the little ones! For older children, the "Water Cathedral" is impressive, which consists of the cisterns of the Castle of Sant Ferran, in Figueres. And also in Figueres the Toy Museum and the world-famous Dalí Theater-Museum are interesting.
